{"id":137,"date":"2025-08-27T05:53:59","date_gmt":"2025-08-27T05:53:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/davidmeacock.com\/wordpress\/?page_id=137"},"modified":"2025-08-29T23:03:54","modified_gmt":"2025-08-29T23:03:54","slug":"hints-on-using-postie-mate","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.postiemate.com\/index.php\/hints-on-using-postie-mate\/","title":{"rendered":"Hints on using\u00a0Postie Mate"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Postie Mate<sup>TM<\/sup><\/em>\u00a0<strong>is very\u00a0easy to use, as the overwhelming majority of letterboxes are full width and horizontal. \u00a0Here are a few hints to get you hitting the ground running!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Carry most leaflets in a shoulder bag and few in your LH fingers 3, 4 &amp; 5.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Load your\u00a0<em>Postie Mate<sup>TM<\/sup><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0(held with RH \u00a0fingers 3, 4 &amp; 5) using thumb &amp; index fingers to feed, as you walk up the drive so as not to waste time doing so at the door standing still. \u00a0If there\u2019s a dog you may well have made your delivery so quickly that you\u2019ll be halfway back down the drive before the dog even makes it to the front door!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When withdrawing\u00a0<em>Postie Mate<sup>TM<\/sup><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0from the letterbox, keep the handle higher than what I call the \u2018front fingers\u2019 of\u00a0<em>Postie Mate<sup>TM<\/sup><\/em>\u00a0to both tip your delivery out and ease withdrawal of\u00a0<em>Postie Mate<sup>TM<\/sup><\/em>\u00a0out of the letterbox<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Modern upright letterboxes: use\u00a0<em>Postie Mate<sup>TM<\/sup><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0on its side, again keeping the handle higher than the front fingers to tip your leaflet\/magazine item out. \u00a0Again, keep the back of\u00a0<em>Postie Mate<sup>TM<\/sup><\/em>\u00a0close to the flap to facilitate withdrawal .<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the letterbox is too narrow to put\u00a0<em>Postie Mate<sup>TM<\/sup><\/em>\u00a0into, push it open as close to the hinge as possible &#8211;\u00a0to maximise the opening &#8211;\u00a0with one of the front fingers of\u00a0<em>Postie Mate<sup>TM<\/sup><\/em>\u00a0. \u00a0As these letterboxes tend to be older, there usually won\u2019t be any bristles and so the leaflet can be pushed through the resulting gap, either rolled or gently folded. \u00a0Hopefully people with such undersize letterboxes will likely be unfolding most of their post, so they\u2019ll be inclined to do the same for yours too!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If a dog grabs your\u00a0<em>Postie Mate<sup>TM<\/sup><\/em>, you might be able to push and pull as if playing a game of tug of war with the dog and eventually it\u2019ll let go. \u00a0If you sense you\u2019re about to potentially lose your\u00a0<em>Postie Mate<sup>TM<\/sup><\/em>\u00a0, push the handle down so as to lock the square front end of the handle on the underside of the blade against the front of the letterbox. \u00a0This will prevent\u00a0<em>Postie Mate<sup>TM<\/sup><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0from being pulled through. \u00a0The chances are the dog will have to let go to breathe at some point, and sensing it doing so you\u2019ll be able to withdraw\u00a0<em>Postie Mate<sup>TM<\/sup><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0for your next delivery &#8211;\u00a0very glad you hadn\u2019t put your fingers through the letterbox!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Happy, safe and efficient delivering!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Postie MateTM\u00a0is very\u00a0easy to use, as the overwhelming majority of letterboxes are full width and horizontal. \u00a0Here are a few hints to get you hitting the ground running!
